Celsius for the win

I just read this post over at Duncs lounge where he was explaining about what side of the road you drive on depending on what part of the world you live in which was an interesting blog post.

It reminded me of another interesting thing I saw on the net a couple of weeks ago. I used to convert the degrees Celsius into Fahrenheit to make it easier for readers in other countries to work out what temp it was on a ride.

Here is the world map of countries that use degrees Celsius vs Fahrenheit.

Yep the good old US of A are the only people on the planet not to come into the 21st Century. I think the formula for C to F is something like this:   C=(F-32) x 5/9.......WTF.

I will no longer be putting fahrenheit on my blog.

America come up to speed with the rest of the world oh and god help all of us if Trump gets in.

  3. Hahahaha - excellent! Are you going to do the same for speed/distance? I'd imagine that if you created a map for that, it would look pretty much the same. Well, maybe not the UK as a lot of them still talk in miles, Farenheit, pounds and ounces. Maybe they'll throw their lot in with the USA what with leaving the EU :-)

  4. If Trump gets in you can sponsor our move to Australia. :-) Hubby is Canadian - how hard can it be?

After growing up in Canada it was hard to adjust to Fahrenheit when we moved to the USA in 2001. Damn stubborn yankees.

  5. Just because Danzig froze at zero degrees in Fahrenheit's home town in 1708 is no reason to discriminate. Had Fahrenheit used plain water instead of brine he'd have been much closer to zero than 32 degrees. We honor his eccentricity, not the simplicity of the decimal point!

  6. I thought Fahrenheit was the name of a movie?

Might be a cold day in hell (not sure what temperature, but probably in celsius too) before the Yanks pull their socks up and come to grips with logic ;)

  7. Over 50 years ago (what's that in metric?) I was told in school that the U.S. was switching to metric. All that happened is we went part way. My Dodge truck (manufactured in Mexico) is a mixture of metric and SAE bolt sizes depending on where the particular component or subassembly was made. So you always have to carry multiple sets of tools.
