It reminded me of another interesting thing I saw on the net a couple of weeks ago. I used to convert the degrees Celsius into Fahrenheit to make it easier for readers in other countries to work out what temp it was on a ride.
Here is the world map of countries that use degrees Celsius vs Fahrenheit.
Yep the good old US of A are the only people on the planet not to come into the 21st Century. I think the formula for C to F is something like this: C=(F-32) x 5/9.......WTF.
I will no longer be putting fahrenheit on my blog.
America come up to speed with the rest of the world oh and god help all of us if Trump gets in.
What! I need to do math!? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI know right, what the hell is that about?
DeleteI am pretty sure, that fellow blog readers from Fahrenheit-Country are smart enough to do the math ;-)
ReplyDeleteWell they have trump would you like to take your statement back now?
Deleteinteresting steve
ReplyDeleteweird that its not changing
what about metric system for measurements that is another crazy mix up with countries
Oh yeah don't get me started on the metric system LMAO......
DeleteHahahaha - excellent! Are you going to do the same for speed/distance? I'd imagine that if you created a map for that, it would look pretty much the same. Well, maybe not the UK as a lot of them still talk in miles, Farenheit, pounds and ounces. Maybe they'll throw their lot in with the USA what with leaving the EU :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Geoff, I just checked and 3 countries us MPH - USA, UK and some other little place like burma or somewhere. Yup they are so backwards....
DeleteIf Trump gets in you can sponsor our move to Australia. :-) Hubby is Canadian - how hard can it be?
ReplyDeleteAfter growing up in Canada it was hard to adjust to Fahrenheit when we moved to the USA in 2001. Damn stubborn yankees.
You can come and live in our Garage. Canadian hey well we won't hold that against him.
DeleteJust because Danzig froze at zero degrees in Fahrenheit's home town in 1708 is no reason to discriminate. Had Fahrenheit used plain water instead of brine he'd have been much closer to zero than 32 degrees. We honor his eccentricity, not the simplicity of the decimal point!
ReplyDeleteHow many kelvin was that he froze at?
DeleteI thought Fahrenheit was the name of a movie?
ReplyDeleteMight be a cold day in hell (not sure what temperature, but probably in celsius too) before the Yanks pull their socks up and come to grips with logic ;)
5/9 -32 maybe, f*cked if anyone could work it out lol......
DeleteWell said Andrew - Yanks and logic don't go together - it is an oxymoron.......
DeleteI'm sure most americans would think that a welder of some description lol
DeleteYes I'm going hard on them at the moment.
Over 50 years ago (what's that in metric?) I was told in school that the U.S. was switching to metric. All that happened is we went part way. My Dodge truck (manufactured in Mexico) is a mixture of metric and SAE bolt sizes depending on where the particular component or subassembly was made. So you always have to carry multiple sets of tools.
ReplyDelete50 -32 x 5/9 sooo about 300 years ago or so.
DeleteScrew that shit, thank god for having a vehicle with all metric, one set of tools. They sure are a screwed up bunch lol
Here, 32 degrees... damn hot! In the US, not so much
ReplyDeleteCorrect 35°C is normal in summer thats about 400F isn't it? Again who the f*ck would know that.......PMSL
DeleteGod I'm having too much fun with this post and it not even about motorcycles
Steve, you've given me a good laugh reading this, better than talking about oil preferences even! Did you know that we have a National Institute of Measurement? http://www.measurement.gov.au/measurementsystem/Pages/HistoryofMeasurementinAustralia.aspx
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun post, I didn't know we had an institute of measurement but i do know.
ReplyDeleteCheers
