Jenolan Caves Road

I'd woken up early this morning hoping to start out scooterbobs Sydney adventures but when I looked out the window I was very disappointed. Rain, rain and more rain and it doesn't look like it's clearing anytime soon looking at the weather radar.

So until it clears up a bit here's a little video I made up from the ride down into Jenolan caves last week.

    1. Maybe we will have to organise a ride together, your not that far from here either.
Mac pass to pie shop and down to Kangaroo valley sounds like a good start. Its been some time since I've done those roads.

  2. Hang in there, I can imagine that you'll need every drop of rain over there.

Beautiful ride. You would find a lot of these small roads (also two-way traffic, no center line) in the heart of the Black Forest. The cave looks cool, good you slowed down with all the tourists walking about.

    1. Sounds like I would very much like this Black Forest, better check if its on my bucket list. If not then its on there.
I always slow down around other people, and fang it a bit when no one is watching. If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it did it make a noise?
Well if I'm speeding and no one is around to see it was I really speeding?

  3. The video is pretty cool, your weather radar, not so much.

That road looks like a twisty bit of fun. I was surprised to see the center line in most of the corners. One of our favorites around here (Alsea Falls) is a lane and a half wide and they don't stripe the corners, you just have to trust the traffic coming the other way.

    Thanks for sharing Steve.

  4. Hope the weather is better for you this weekend, they have been predicting rain for us but it yet to show it's face.

Thanks for sharing the video, I haven't been to jenolan caves in years. We thought about it but I remembered a horrible long stretch of dirt road that nearly shook my little Corolla to pieces in the 90's, has that been tarred yet? If it has that might have to be our next weekend getaway.

    1. Hi Brenda
It's a pretty cool place go ride your bike. I even took our 2 & 6 year old girls up there before christmas. The road in and out is fully sealed now but there are one way restrictions from 11:30am till 2pm where the road going out from the caves towards lithgow is not allowed. They must have busses come through during this time or something. So during these times you need to head out via Oberon.

    2. Thanks for that Steve, might go look up their website now. Oberon is probably the best way to approach the caves from here anyway, I'd forgotten about Oberon.

    3. Yep you can simply go from Bathurst straight down to Oberon then on into Jenolan Caves from there.
