Riders beat fine after 'reckless' police operation - Old Pacific Hwy

This article courtesy of the Sydney Morning Herald. This happened on the Old Pacific Hwy just on the northern outskirts of Sydney on one of Sydneys best known biking roads. Good on you guys for sticking up for your rights. Poor form on the part of the police.  Watch the video to see what happened. It's funny my wife used to work for the solicitor that defended these guys.

Maybe the police should have issued themselves with tickets for negligent driving? Hope they refunded all 65 riders but I bet they didn't.

  1. Wow. Pretty crappy of the police to bait riders this way. At least the judge realized it wasn't okay for the officers to act like asshats on the road. Sure hope more of riders ticketed can get their refunds.

  2. It's a wonder that the 'bait' vehicle didn't get caught on someone's gopro.

Really is amazing that the police would try a stunt like this in this day and age .. surely they knew it was wronjg and that someone would atand up for themselves.

    1. Maybe someone did get it on their go pro, there are a lot of those out there these days. I can't understand why they need to stoop to such lows to raise revenue. Very bad.

  3. Geez Steve, that's bad news but at least it was the correct outcome. I don't think I've ever heard of "entrapment" techniques used in NZ. There are even rules about speed cameras having to be in plain view! (Not that I'm complaining, you understand!)
