Just got the bike out today after getting back from New Zealand on Friday to go for a short ride and get some fuel. After I folded myself onto the little R1 which felt like a little toy after riding the big BMW F800GS I took a quick spin around some local roads. By jesus the R1 felt like a rocket - a race bike with lights more or less. I noticed also how bad our roads are here in NSW after those sweet NZ roads. Maybe there is something to these comfortable bikes after all. NZ ride report to follow soon.

Cattai Creek - Just like WOLF Creek only with more cats. |
Hurray up with the write-up already!
ReplyDeleteYeah Yeah, to be honest I haven't even started it yet. After 11 days of riding I'm a little unmotivated after the exhilarating days we had.
ReplyDeletePlus the 6000-odd photos to go through and the fact that I am stuck in a hotel room with no real computer access.
DeleteBrandi- he is in denial about a sensible bike. Still thinks he looks cool on a sports bike despite needing a physiotherapist on standby after every ride.......
Hard to get yourself in the writing zone after being in the riding zone....
ReplyDeleteSo, you had been thinking of a new bike - does the time you had on the BMW change the style of bike you are thinking of getting in the future?
Adventure bikes aren't race bikes by any means, but the softer suspension sure eats up the rough road surfaces compared to the stiffer sporty suspension I bet.
Where to start more like it, so many photos to go through and choose from, video to edit. I'd need longer than the trip.
DeleteIf I don't go a full on sportsbike again it'll be something naked like the Z1000 I reckon.
Hi Steve,
ReplyDeleteGreat that you survived idiot tourists in white vans and equally stupid locals! Hope you and Dave enjoyed the trip and really looking forward to you making me green with envy!
Gidday Giff
DeleteSure did mate, some of those buggers park there hire vans in the middle of the road for photos. It was the best trip ever so far. Just peacing things together at the moment. It's going to take a while, it was an epic trip.
I love your country you guys should be proud of what you have.
What do you mean you haven't started writing yet?!?! Dont you realise we're dying to hear all about it!!
ReplyDeleteI'm hearing ya's, geez
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Steve. Like the rest, really looking forward to this ride report.
ReplyDeleteI felt exactly the same about the footpeg position on my ZX14 after being on a upright dual sport.
Cheers Jules
Yeah, come on Steve, get your shit together...
ReplyDeleteAh geez now I'm copping crap from you too. Hey you haven't posted in 6 months, get your shit together mate!
DeleteGood to here from you rog, I thought something may have happened to you because you haven't posted for so long. Still waiting on the new bike review.
