Earlier in the year I took a trip down through the Royal National Park and went across the Seacliffe Bridge. I had the gopro on but never did anything with the video so I thought I'd post it up. The coast road down to Wollongong is very scenic and winding, some have called it Sydney's Great ocean road.

The seacliffe bridge was built in 2005 at a cost of $52 Million and is part of the Grand Pacific Drive. Its only 455 meters long and the Illawarra escarpment looms high on one side with scenic views of the Tasman sea on the other. The bridge has been used in several TV ads around the world for
Shell/Ferrari and others.
Here is my short video of the Seacliffe bridge by R1.
It looks like a beautiful ride. Being from North America however I freaked out thinking you were always on the wrong side of the road.
ReplyDeleteHi Dave
DeleteIt sure is a nice ride, heck its even a great drive. We don't drive on the wrong side of the road, everyone else does.
Thanks for dropping by, I checked you blog out and its pretty good.
Oh, my! Is that road for real? You were going quite carefully in the wet area. Was is slippery?
ReplyDeleteYeah its a pretty good bit of road eh. I didn't want to bin it in a wet patch at low speed that would have been embarassing wouldn't it.
Deleteahhhh! thanks i needed that! :D gorgeous ride, and great visibility there! excellent day!
ReplyDeleteYep it sure was. If any of you ever get the chace to come to Australia, you have to ride down there.
DeleteWow! Kinda scared me when that car crossed the line to overtake the pushbikes.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that road even existed tho I think you posted something about it before, I just didn't realise how amazing it was, I think the other post had something more exciting in it that attracted my attention more. Looks like something else to put on my list of things I must see. Thanks for sharing it Steve.
There was plenty of room luckily, so it wasn't that scarey. Still it unsettles you when they do that.
DeleteDamn that is an expensive bridge, but great views and some twisty bits.
ReplyDeleteDo you find car drivers come over the center line at all on corners. We find they have a bad habit of cutting corners around here.
It happens all the time over here with car drivers cutting the corners. I find it worse by 4x4 drivers, they just seem to be to lazy to give a shit and stay in there own lane so they are usually over in the right hand wheel track around the corner. One day that idiot is going to meet another like minded 4x4 driver and they can be eating hospital food together.
DeleteLooks very cool.
ReplyDeleteThat first picture is very cool! That's an interesting bridge. I also have to agree with the David above... It's a little bit freaky to watch video of you riding on the "wrong" side of the road. I kept twitching to the right thinking you'd move over to the "correct" side... hehehe
ReplyDeleteSteve:
ReplyDeleteYOU'RE GONNA KILL YOURSELF (where have I heard that before). You could have "flipped" your video around so you are riding on the CORRECT side. I can't understand why all of you down there insist on riding on the WRONG side. scarey
I think that aerial shot is scarier than actually riding on it

Riding the Wet Coast
Bob you cheeky monkey you, we are on the correct side I can assure you.
DeleteBrings back bad memories - we got lost in peak hour Friday evening traffic after visiting there in 2010. I got a good pic though. See
